🇺🇸 Making In America Is Going All Out During New York Tech Week!
Recap of our last event and some updates for our upcoming events during a16z's NYTW

👋 Hello!
Before we get into what we are planning for a16z’s Tech Week 2025, let’s quickly recap the last event!
We covered topics around O-1 visas, the grit of building a case from scratch when you are just getting used to America, and how to plan ahead during a changing immigration landscape.
Check out this video highlighting our lovely panelists and make sure to follow Making In America on Instagram!
Alrighty, moving on to the TechWeek events!

We are throwing 3 back-to-back events, targeting different niches within the immigration world.
Visa for STEM Builders: Problem solving for STEM immigrants, graduates and early professionals, educating them on their different options: Day 1 CPT, Cap-Exempt H-1B, and even considering Canada (play the long game).
The Future of High-Skilled Immigration in America: We will do a state of the union of skilled immigration. When to go for H-1Bs? What to do if you don’t get your H-1Bs? Who qualifies for O-1 visas? What’s the pipeline for an EB1 green card? And how is all this changing as the current administration rethinks immigration? We will cover it all!
Visas for Investors and Premium Immigration: In this one, we want to cover EB-5 investor visas that offer foreign investors a pathway to permanent US residency if they make a minimum investment in a qualifying US commercial enterprise that creates or preserves at least 10 full-time jobs for US workers. We will also feature a company that will help you bankroll part of this investment 👀
All of these events have been accepted by the NY TechWeek calendar, so keep an eye out for the invites!
[TechWeek has mandated us to use Partiful to host the events since they are the official partner for the franchise, so please expect these invites to come from Partiful instead of the usual Luma]
We had a TON of fun during last year’s NYTW, check it out below!
We're currently looking for a few more sponsors and volunteers for all three events, as we continue to grow within the larger Making in America ecosystem! We’ve already filled some sponsor slots, but there’s still room to get involved.
If you're interested in helping with event logistics, sponsorships, content, or elevating the overall audience experience, I’d love to hear from you—reach out!
Feel free to reach out to me via any of my socials or over email at [email protected].

👋 This event is organized by Sagnik Basu, an immigrant entrepreneur currently working in the news and a builder in the production space. Sagnik was born in India and sought education in the United Kingdom. He moved to the USA by himself in 2017 with $300, because he likes bigger portion sizes.
He believes in American dynamism and wants to support others who are building in the USA. This community represents the essence of creativity, advancement, and perseverance that propels the United States onward.
He also believes in the limitless potential for creating jobs and companies, emphasizing that legal immigration should fuel entrepreneurial growth in the USA to ensure America remains THE global leader.
Build in America. For America.
